Below are our current COVID-19 Pandemic Preparation and Response Plan (PPRP) for families. The date of the last update is at the bottom. Please contact the office if you have any questions.
Items that are not related to Community Transmission and always apply this year:
Stay home when you are sick.
Proper hand hygiene and social distancing.
Masks must be worn on all public transportation including school buses. No exceptions.
Positive cases in the school must be reported to MDH.
Masks
As of February 22, students and staff will no longer be required to wear masks at SEAS school or school events. There are still situations where masks will still be required:
On public transportation, NOT including school buses. Masks are not required on school buses as of February 25th.
When returning from a five day quarantine, masks must be worn for an additional five days.
Symptomatic students in the health office will wear a mask until they are picked up.
Certain field trips may require masks, which will be communicated to families in advance.
Other schools may require masks for events, such as basketball games.
Recommended Quarantines for Exposure: COMPLETED COVID-19 vaccine series or recovered from COVID in the last 90 days
Quarantine is typically not recommended unless the child has symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19.
It is recommended that your child wear a mask for 10 days following the day they were exposed to COVID-19, even at home around others.
Day zero ‘0’ is the day your child was exposed to COVID-19.
Monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. If your child experiences COVID-19 symptoms, please keep your child home from school, test, and follow the isolation procedure.
Test on day five after the exposure. If positive, keep the child home and follow isolation procedures.
Recommended Quarantines for Exposure: HAS NOT COMPLETED COVID-19 vaccine series or recovered from COVID in the last 90 days
Your child should quarantine at home for at least five days following the exposure
Day zero ‘0’ is the day your child was exposed to COVID-19 or began developing symptoms.
It is recommended that your child wear a mask for 10 days following the day they were exposed to COVID-19, even at home around others.
Monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. If your child develops symptoms during quarantine, have your child follow our isolation procedure instead, starting day ‘0’ on the day your child began experiencing symptoms.
On day five
Test on day five after the exposure. If positive, keep the child home and follow isolation procedures.
On day six
If your child did not develop symptoms, your child should continue to wear a mask until at least day 10, but can resume regular activities. A mask will be required at school.
Positive COVID Test Regardless of Vaccine Status: Isolation Procedures
Your child must isolate at home for at least five days.
Day zero ‘0’ is the day your child tested positive for COVID-19 or began developing symptoms.
Siblings who are not vaccinated must also quarantine for at least five days.
It is recommended that you have your child wear a mask at home if they live with other individuals who have not been exposed, have not tested positive, or do not have symptoms.
On day six:
If your child did not have symptoms, your child should continue to wear a mask until at least day 10, but can resume regular activities.
If your child has no fever (for 24 hours without fever reducing medicine) and symptoms have improved, your child should continue to wear a mask until at least day 10, but can resume regular activities.
If your child has a fever and/or symptoms have not improved, have your child stay home until the fever is gone and other symptomshave improved and continue to wear a mask until at least day 10. A mask will be required at school.
On day 10:
If your child has no fever (for 24 hours without fever reducing medicines)and symptoms have improved, masking around others can end and quarantine/isolation is no longer recommended.
If your child has a fever or symptoms, have your child continue to isolate and wear a mask until the fever is gone and all symptoms have improved
When siblings need to quarantine
If siblings have completed the COVID-19 vaccine series or had COVID in the last 90 days
Siblings do not need to quarantine for any exposure.
Siblings do not need to quarantine for a positive case in the household.
Siblings do need to isolate themselves from the affected individual as much as possible.
If siblings have NOT completed the COVID-19 vaccine series or had COVID in the last 90 days
Siblings do need to quarantine for five days if exposed and considered a close contact.
Siblings do need to quarantine for a positive case in the household for five days.
Siblings do need to isolate themselves from the affected individual as much as possible.
Vaccines
Public health officials recommend vaccinations for everyone eligible, currently those 5 or older.
Booster shots are available for those 12 and up.
Proof of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for determining quarantine scenarios. Those not providing proof of vaccination will be required to follow the quarantine guidelines for an unvaccinated person. You may submit proof here.
Distance Learning
Students who are in quarantine will be able to keep up with classroom assignments.
Two digital platforms will support distance learning: Seesaw for K-3rd and Google Classroom for grades 4th-8th.
Lessons and assignments will be posted the next day, allowing staff time to post recordings, if available, and assignments.
Communication
Any procedures and protocols that change will be sent to parents in a timely manner via email or the weekly eNews.
Updates will be posted on our website.
If a student has been exposed to COVID-19 at school, families will be notified. Exposure is defined as "being a household contact or having close contact within 6 feet of an individual with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more."
